Clay Halloween Decor

These little clay decorations are awesome....You can do pretty much anything with them, and they consist of 3 ingredients that I would bet $100 you already have on hand!!
These little babies are so versatile that you can do pretty much anything with them. Use them for Christmas Ornaments, hand/foot molds, Halloween decorations, Valentine trinkets, my list can go on and on, but I think you get the idea here....
Not only do they require few ingredients, they are EASY PEASY! An adult will definitely need to be hands on with this in the beginning because the stove is involved, but when the creating part begins, let the kids go wild!!

What you'll need:
  •  1/2 Cup Cornstarch
  •  1 Cup Baking Soda
  •  3/4 Cup Water
  •  Cookie Cutters
  •  Stamps (Optional)

In a medium pot, add all ingredients and heat over medium heat. Stir continuously.

Once it turns into a thick mashed potato like consistency, you know it's done.

Remove from heat, and put in a bowl and cover with a damp cloth. It is important to keep it covered while it's cooling to prevent it from getting hard. It will have a crust on it, but it will knead out once you mess with it.
When it's cool, knead it on a smooth surface with a dusting of cornstarch if it's a little sticky.

Once you knead it for a couple minutes. Roll out your dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Gotta love my little helping hands! :)

Once you roll out the dough use cookie cutters, stamps, whatever you want to make your creations with to make your ornaments/decor.

Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake in a 175 degree preheated oven for 1 hour (flipping ornament over halfway through).

Our result turned out pretty cute! There was a little bit of cracking, but it wasn't too bad....Tomorrow we're going to paint them with the Homemade Water Color Paints that we made yesterday!

Happy Crafting
